MANAGEMENT TEAM

Richard Brown

Founder

 

Richard has been in the oil and gas industry for over 30 years. He is a 1987 SAIT graduate of Chemical Process Operations and Power Engineering. He spent 15 years serving in various capacities in refining, gas processing facility operation and commissioning.

He was the Founder and President of Durango Oilfield Services Ltd in 2003. In 2009, Mullen Investments acquired Durango, and Richard stayed on and served as Vice President of Cascade Energy Services LP (a Mullen Group company) through 2011.

He joined Talisman Energy in 2011 as Water Infrastructure Foreman/Consultant for the Montney shale gas development, commissioning infield water handling infrastructure.

Mike Ryder

General Manager

 

Mike was born and raised in Northern BC and has raised his family in the Fort St John area. Between Municipal and Oil and Gas operations, Mike has been involved in water infrastructure design, construction, and commissioning for over 25 years.

He spent 15 years in municipal government where he worked his way up to Director of Works and spent the last 8 years of his municipal career as Fire Chief. In 2011 he took a position with Talisman Energy as Water Management Coordinator where he coordinated the movement of fluid through the piping network connecting most of the sites to the Fresh and produced water storage pits.

Mike holds several tickets in the Environmental Operators Certification Program, including Water Distribution 1, Water Treatment 1, Wastewater Distribution 1, as well as NFPA Pumps and Pumping. In 2015, he accepted a position with Titan Energy Services where he soon became the Branch Manager, and then the North Regional Manager after opening a second branch in Grande Prairie, AB. Mike joined the team at Butler Ridge in 2020, and has a vast knowledge to share when it comes to managing water projects.

Richard Abbott

HSE Coordinator

 

A lifelong native of Prince George, Richard began his Reforestation and Wildland Firefighting career in 1983. Richard’s devotion to successful project completion swiftly developed into an ownership role at Seneca Enterprises Ltd., where he acquired extensive experience in Management, Supervision and Safety. Richard began his career in the natural gas industry in 2010, starting as a Field Tech moving into a Supervisor role and becoming an Operations Manager before the end of 2011, with his vast knowledge in business, Richard became a key member of the Butler Ridge Energy team in the spring of 2012, providing his services in Operations Management and Safety.

Chris Rothwell

Operations Manager

 

Chris was born in Winnipeg and raised in Western Canada. He has been involved in the Transport and Logistics Industry for over 35 years, Chris transitioned into the Oilfield Industry in 2007, and he brings 15 years of fluid transfer experience to Butler Ridge.

Chris has been involved in the design, build, and operation of a multitude of above ground temporary line transfer, and permanent infrastructure pipeline transfer projects throughout Alberta and BC. 

Chris has worked closely with several of Western Canada’s Energy Companies throughout the last 15 years. His vast knowledge of fluid transfer systems and industry experience is a great asset to the team at Butler Ridge Energy Services.
